The Orlando Magic Get the No. 1 NBA Draft Pick for the 4th Time

The numbers 14-1-3-6 were drawn in order and Orlando Magic Director of Communications Joel Glass fist-pumped the results.

NBA lottery 2022 has been completed and the top 14 picks are set for the 2022 draft. Orlando Magic secured the no.1 pick among all. The Orlando Magic will be having the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, which is all set to take place on June 23.

Previously, Orlando Magic hold the second-worst record in the league last season, losing 22-60, and consequently missed the playoffs for the second season. Overall, they have missed eight playoffs in the last ten years. However, all of the losses in the past seven months paid off as Orlando won the no.1 overall pick last night.
Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said: “The fans, the organization, it’s so exciting. There’s so much to look forward to. It’s going to be special.”
While a coach will always be positive regarding his team’s prospects, the Magic have the potential to be something exceptional. Last season, they had two lottery picks in Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner, the latter of whom will almost probably make the All-Rookie Team. Moreover, the likes of Markelle Flutz, Wendell Carter Jr, Cole Anthony, Chuma Okeke, Jonathan Isaac, and RJ Hampton. In the NBA, nothing is guaranteed, but the Magic may be a lot of fun in a few seasons.

Kings move to No. 4

The Sacramento Kings who had the seventh-worst record in the league last season jumped to the no.4 overall pick. It looks like a minor improvement for a team that had a struggling time and hasn’t had much luck in the previous season. The top 4 in this class include Chet Homgren, Paolo Banchero, Jabari Smith, and Jaden Ivey. The Kings haven’t made it to the playoffs since 2006, which is the worst skid in the league. Last season, they made a strong effort to rectify this by moving Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Domantas Sabonis. It didn’t really work last season, but another top-four pick should help them return to the playoffs in the upcoming.

The Blazers had no luck

The Portland Trail Blazers were again in the draft for the first time since 2012, when they drafted Damian Lillard, after eight consecutive playoff appearances. On Tuesday, he was in attendance as their envoy, but he was unable to help them, as they were selected No. 7 overall. While that wasn’t a huge decrease from the previous season’s sixth-worst record, they didn’t get the major boost they were expecting, and eventually needed to renovate their team.
