Zaccharie Risacher, the top selection of the 2024 NBA Draft, made a humble first impression in the Atlanta Hawks’ 120-116 win against the Brooklyn Nets. The 19-year-old forward had difficulty with his performance, only making 2 out of 8 shots. In 19 minutes as a substitute, he ended the game with seven points, one rebound, and no assists.

First Shot, First Three

Risacher made a strong start to his debut by sinking a three-pointer with his initial shot. Nevertheless, his shooting percentage quickly decreased as he only made 1 of 4 shots from long range and 2 of 4 from the free-throw line. Even with his struggle in shooting, Risacher stays positive, saying, “I’ll keep improving,” as he adapts to the NBA.

Teammates Carry the Load

As Risacher faced difficulties, his teammates rose to the occasion. Trae Young was the top scorer for the Hawks with 30 points, while Onyeka Okongwu added 28 points as a bench player. They managed to hold off a solid showing from Brooklyn’s Cam Thomas, who put up 36 points for the Nets.

Looking Ahead

While not exceptional, Risacher’s talent is still clearly evident. As the young forward becomes more skilled and adapts to the speed of the NBA, he has the potential to be a valuable asset for Atlanta. As the season continues, the Hawks will rely on Risacher as a backup to Young.
