The 2024 WNBA season may still be in its early stages, but it’s already brimming with exciting developments. Despite a gruelling schedule for the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark continues to shine, securing the top spot in CBS Sports WNBA Rookie Rankings for the second consecutive week.

While Clark’s recent performance in a 104-68 loss to the New York Liberty was below her usual standard, fatigue was a likely factor, as the Fever have played 11 games in just 20 days. Yet, her talent and impact are undeniable, especially after registering her first 30-point game earlier in the season.

Another rookie making waves is Minnesota Lynx forward Alissa Pili. Though she hasn’t seen much playing time, Pili made a significant impression with a 20-point performance in just 15 minutes off the bench during a 95-71 victory over the Mercury.

Chicago Sky’s Kamilla Cardoso also deserves recognition. Making her debut on June 1, the South Carolina standout posted 11 points and six rebounds in a narrow 71-70 loss to the Fever, showcasing her potential to be a key player for the Sky.

1. WNBA Player Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever

Stats: 15.6 PPG, 6.4 APG, 5.1 RPG

Despite a career-low three points against the Liberty, Clark’s overall performance last week was strong. She hit a career-high 30 points in a loss to the Sparks and added 20 points and nine assists against the Storm. Clark is second in the league for 3-pointers and ranks in the top five for assists per game, demonstrating her critical role in the Fever’s offense.

2. Angel Reese, Chicago Sky

Stats: 10.6 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 1.3 SPG

Reese’s efficiency around the rim needs work, but her overall contributions have been substantial. Leading all rookies in win shares, Reese posted a career-high 13 rebounds against the Fever despite shooting struggles. She’s a top rebounder and leads the WNBA in offensive rebounds, showing her tenacity on the boards.

3. Rickea Jackson, Los Angeles Sparks

Stats: 10.0 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 49.1 FG%

Jackson has become a key player for the Sparks, contributing significantly in recent games. While her shooting was off against the Mercury, her overall efficiency and ability to score at all three levels make her a vital part of the team’s success. As Jackson and fellow rookie Cameron Brink develop, the Sparks will become even more formidable.

4.WNBA Player Cameron Brink, Los Angeles Sparks

Stats: 8.8 PPG, 2.6 BPG, 5.4 RPG

Brink has struggled with fouls and turnovers recently, but her defensive prowess remains impressive. She recorded a record 19 blocks in her first month, averaging 2.6 blocks per game, just behind league leaders. Despite offensive challenges, Brink’s defensive impact keeps her among the top rookies.

5. Alissa Pili, Minnesota Lynx

Stats: 4.2 PPG, 64.3 FG%, 62.5 3PT%

Pili made a statement with 20 points in 15 minutes against the Mercury, showing her potential as a sharpshooter and efficient scorer. Her readiness and performance could earn her more playing time and a larger role in the Lynx’s rotation.

Honorable Mention: Kamilla Cardoso, Chicago Sky

Cardoso’s debut was promising, adding depth and skill to the Sky’s frontcourt. Her performance against the Fever indicates she could be a significant asset moving forward.

As the season progresses, these rookies are proving their worth and making significant contributions to their respective teams. Keep an eye on them as they continue to develop and impact the WNBA landscape.
