Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma remains calm amid trade rumors, believing that anyone can be on the move in the NBA—except one player. Speaking with The Athletic’s Josh Robbins, Kuzma said, “You see a lot of times when players get into trade talks, it affects their games. But it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. One, it’s a business. Two, everybody in the NBA is tradable, except for Victor Wembanyama.”
Wembanyama’s Untouchable Status
Kuzma’s words highlight his respect for San Antonio Spurs’ rising star, Victor Wembanyama. The reigning Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year runner-up has quickly become a cornerstone for the Spurs. Wembanyama led the NBA with 3.6 blocks per game in his rookie season, while also averaging 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds. With the Spurs building their future around the 20-year-old, Kuzma considers him the only untouchable player in the league.
Trade Likelihood for Kuzma
Despite his confidence, Kyle Kuzma knows he could be on the move and has three years left on his contract, and the Wizards’ rebuilding phase makes him a potential trade candidate. Kuzma averaged a career-high 22.2 points last season, increasing his value to playoff contenders. Last spring, the Wizards nearly traded him to the Dallas Mavericks, but Kuzma chose to stay in Washington.
James and Curry Staying Put
While Kuzma acknowledges that stars like LeBron James and Steph Curry are unlikely to be traded, he still sees them as technically tradable. James’ no-trade clause and Curry’s commitment to remaining a Warrior for life make their moves highly improbable. But as Kuzma points out, in the NBA, almost everyone has a price.
Kyle Kuzma’s future may be uncertain, but he continues to perform at a high level, keeping his focus on the court while the trade winds swirl.
