The journey was always going to be a challenge for Dwight Howard, but he kept his eyes on the prize. After years of contemplating, this NBA star finally made his decision to join Dancing with the Stars (DWTS). However, as all good things must come to an end, Dwight Howard’s DWTS elimination marks the end of his time on the show.

Was Dwight Howard’s DWTS Elimination a Set-Up?

“I’ve been trying to do it for three years,” Dwight confessed, looking back on his journey. “This year was the best decision I made to come on the show.” Despite their elimination, Howard and his partner Daniella Karagach made sure to leave a lasting impression. Their social media was a whirlwind of emotions—humor, gratitude, and a fair share of teary moments. The pair shared an Instagram post with the heartfelt caption: “Although we didn’t make it to the finale, we made it as far as our journey of growth could take us. Thank you, Daniella, for being my partner and teaching me how to dance.”

But beneath the fun and charm, the reality of the competition hit hard. Dwight’s elimination came after a strong but flawed performance. They had to perform twice on the special 500th episode—first a regular routine and then the Instant Dance Challenge. Their Argentine Tango, inspired by the Gotan Project’s Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre), earned mixed reviews, with judge Carrie Ann rating their performance a disappointing 8. Despite trying their best, the pair couldn’t meet the high expectations set earlier in the season, ultimately landing them in the bottom.

The Instant Dance Challenge was a double-edged sword. With just five minutes of rehearsal, Dwight and Daniella attempted the Paso Doble to Victorious by Panic! At The Disco. Their performance, while commendable under pressure, suffered from timing issues, leading to a score of 22—the lowest of the night.

In the end, their total score of 48 wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition. And while the audience’s votes couldn’t save them, Dwight’s positivity remained unshaken. “The show meant so much to me,” he said, reflecting on the experience. “I had an amazing partner, and it was all worth it.” Karagach, ever the supportive partner, added, “People said he couldn’t do it, and we did it. For me, that’s a win.”

Despite the loss, Dwight’s message of perseverance for his kids is clear: never back down from a challenge. It may not have been the fairytale ending fans had hoped for, but for Dwight Howard, it was an undeniable victory.
