After the Lakers’s disappointing 110-93 defeat by the Atlanta Hawks, head coach Tyronn Lue articulated deep anxiety over the team’s recent slip-ups which was followed by him questioning his role in the dismal performance.
The Clippers were down as hard as 29 points in the Atlanta fourth quarter to make this the fourth loss out of the five games, and therefore Lue was concerned about the quick break from that shape. Lue stressed giving a complete narrative in the form of consistent effort and executions for the whole period of the game, after all, he spoke against blazing bursts.
Despite the Clippers improving performance, the team struggled with poor defence and offence. In the defensive sector, they failed to stop the Hawks from shooting exceptionally well from the field and 3-point-land. On the offense, their lack of coordination was evident, since they mostly attempted to make the score individually, and the result was a line full of misses and turnovers.
Tyronn Lue Reflects on Clippers’ Struggles Following Disheartening Loss to Hawks
Not just that, James Harden, who is supposed to rally the team, etc, even lags, along with the rest of the team. As the margin of error narrows with the playoff chase, the Clippers find themselves teetering on the edge of a cliff, still in third place—only one game ahead of the fifth-place Pelicans in the Western Conference.
Superstars like Kawhi Leonard, or Paul George suffered publically from defeat after flip-flopped status of the team. Over time, however, Lue had to swallow her pride and accept the fact of reduction. In addition, she had to take up the responsibility for the search for solutions. Despite the apparent trust and the team’s talent, Lue braced up to show the importance to the team by doing the job in order. By this, they always need to do the job consistently and stay together as a collective effort.
The Clippers should not let themselves have any more chances to be a losers, now that the final stage of the regular season has been reached. Lue knows very well how much time is left, and how they must settle their issues and come up with a code of conduct right away. The countdown is on as Lue, the leader of the team, sits with only 15 games left to play and to modify those tactics that will put them on top.
Besides the drag that they were experiencing off the court, the Clippers were also short of having Norman Powell, another athlete who could have made a big difference in seeing them through this especially as they try to recoup their best form and gain a stable position heading into the playoffs.
