Drew Gordon, the elder brother of Denver Nuggets star Aaron Gordon, tragically passed away in a car accident in Portland, Oregon. His agent, Calvin Andrews, confirmed the heartbreaking news to ESPN late Thursday. Drew was 33 years old.

Drew Gordon made a name for himself in the basketball world, starting his collegiate career at UCLA, after receiving offers from prestigious programs like Duke, North Carolina, and Arizona. After two promising years as a Bruin, he transferred to the University of New Mexico for his junior year. At New Mexico, Gordon shined, averaging over 13 points and 10 rebounds per game in each of his two seasons with the Lobos, catching the attention of NBA scouts.

Despite his impressive college performance, Gordon went undrafted in 2012 but joined the Dallas Mavericks for the Summer League. He then had a journeyman career, playing in various foreign leagues and the G League before signing with the Philadelphia 76ers. During the 2014-15 NBA season, Gordon played nine games for the 76ers before being waived in December.

After his brief NBA stint, Gordon continued his professional basketball career overseas, where he spent nearly a decade. One of his career highlights was being named an All-Star in France in 2015. Drew Gordon retired from professional basketball in 2023, concluding a diverse and impactful career on the court.

Drew’s untimely death in a car accident is a significant loss to the basketball community and his family. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to the sport but also for the legacy he leaves behind.
