Jonquel Jones, a big with the Connecticut Sun, has been selected as an AT&T WNBA All-Star starter, the league declared on Wednesday. She has participated in four All-Star games, including four as a starter. Jones presently leads the Sun in points scored per game with an average of 15.1. She also has the most rebounds, 9.4 per game.
According to team officials, Jones’ performance on the Sun’s 3-1 road trip out west against the Aces, Mercury, and Storm earned her the title of WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week of May 30 to June 5, 2022. During that time, Jones averaged 19.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
Last year, Jones helped the Team WNBA All-Stars to a 93-85 victory over Team USA at the All-Star Game. She grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds while scoring 18 points and dishing out four assists. She came in second place in the WNBA Three-Point competition in 2021, trailing Allie Quigley of the Chicago Sky by four points.
The 2022 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will take place on July 10 at 1 p.m. EST in the Wintrust Arena of the Chicago Sky and be televised by ABC. Jones and the Connecticut Sun will attempt to win their fifth Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena against the New York Liberty.
