Warriors coach Steve Kerr took the stage at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago on Monday to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president. In his speech, Kerr emphasized the qualities he believes are essential in leadership, explaining why he chose to “step into a different kind of arena” by speaking at the DNC.
“I believe in a certain kind of leadership,” Kerr stated. “I believe that leaders must display dignity. I believe that leaders must tell the truth. I believe that leaders should be able to laugh at themselves. I believe leaders must care for and love the people they are leading.”
Steve Kerr expressed that he sees these qualities in Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, which is why he supports their candidacy.
He concluded his speech with a nod to Warriors star Stephen Curry’s famous “night night” celebration, saying: “After the results are tallied [on Election Night], we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, tell Donald Trump, ‘Night night!’ “
