Stephon Castle guided the San Antonio Spurs to a winning score of 89-67 against Team China in the California Classic Summer League on Tuesday at Golden 1 Center. Castle’s 18 points led the way for the Spurs in a strong showing.
Strong Start and Defense
The Spurs started off well, finishing the first quarter with a 29-20 advantage. Although China reduced the difference to three points at halftime, the Spurs’ defense became stronger in the third quarter, limiting China to only seven points. San Antonio’s strong defensive play helped them increase their lead to 13 points going into the last quarter. The Spurs stayed concentrated in the fourth quarter and sealed a comfortable 22-point victory.
Standout Performances
Castle’s six rebounds, five assists, and three steals added to his performance. Harrison Ingram displayed his versatility by contributing 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Jamaree Bouyea scored 14 points and dished out five assists while only turning the ball over once in 25 minutes on the court.
Team China’s Effort
In 26 minutes, Liao Sanning scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had three assists and two steals to lead Team China. Jiao Boqiao and He Xining both scored 11 points, while Yang Hansen contributed with six points and eight rebounds.

The Spurs will keep playing in the Summer League in Las Vegas on Saturday, going up against the Trail Blazers. With Castle and his fellow players playing exceptionally well, the Spurs hope to capitalize on their achievements and extend their streak of victories.
