The NBA Summer League will be without San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle for the rest of the games due to a sprained right wrist. The Spurs’ No. 4 overall pick suffered a minor injury in their win against the Portland Trail Blazers, leading the team to prioritize caution in their approach.

Castle immediately made a significant impression in only a few Summer League matches. The ex-UConn standout tallied 12 points in his first game and then notched 18 points, along with six rebounds and five assists, in the next game against China. In his third game, he recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Spurs fans are already thrilled to witness how he will perform alongside Victor Wembanyama.

A Promising Future Ahead

Castle, at the age of 19, is in the process of improving his skills and game. During the previous season, he maintained an average of 11.1 points while playing for UConn and contributed to the Huskies winning a national championship. Now, he now has the opportunity to elevate his skills with the Spurs.

He will also have the advantage of being taught by NBA icon Chris Paul, who joined San Antonio through free agency. Having Paul as a mentor and Wembanyama as a teammate sets Castle up for strong development in his first season.

A Bright Path for the Spurs

Despite finishing last season with a record of 22-60. The Spurs possess one of the most talented young groups in the league. With Stephon Castle of Spurs and Wembanyama at the forefront. San Antonio fans can look forward to positive prospects for the team’s future and possible advancements in the upcoming season.
