Los Angeles Sparks’ first-round picks, Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson, enjoyed a memorable evening on Monday as they threw out the ceremonial first pitches at the Los Angeles Dodgers game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Rickea Jackson expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “For them to even want to bring us out, this means a lot. The support we’ve gotten from L.A., we’re just grateful to be here.”

Dodgers outfielder Miguel Vargas caught Brink’s pitch, while pitcher Bobby Miller received Jackson’s throw. Adding to the excitement, both rookies had the chance to meet Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, with Brink receiving some pitching tips from the dual-threat player.

Brink and Jackson, the No. 2 and No. 4 picks respectively in last month’s WNBA Draft, have already begun their professional basketball careers with the Sparks. They were part of a highly anticipated draft class that includes Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Kamilla Cardoso, marking a new era for women’s basketball.

Reflecting on the experience, Jackson added, “It’s been amazing. I feel like it’s about time. It’s just going to keep growing, but I feel like I’m more happy for the vets, they’re the ones that deserve it all.”
