Seth Curry agrees to 2-year deal with Dallas Mavericks

Seth Curry has reached a two-year agreement with the Dallas Mavericks, as confirmed by Austin Brown, co-head of CAA Basketball, in a statement to ESPN. The Mavericks utilized their $4 million-plus biannual exception to secure Curry, according to sources cited by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

At the age of 32, Curry makes a return to Dallas, a team he previously played for during the 2016-17 and 2019-20 seasons. His standout performance came in the ’19-20 season when he recorded an impressive 12.4 points per game and boasted a remarkable 45.2% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc. He thrived alongside a youthful Luka Doncic, who was just 20 years old at the time.

Curry entered free agency following a less productive season with the Brooklyn Nets, marking the first time since 2018-19 that he averaged fewer than 10 points per game. He also logged his lowest minutes since that season.

During his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers, Curry had two solid seasons, and he continued his success in his first season with the Brooklyn Nets, where he posted an average of 14.9 points per game while shooting at an impressive rate of nearly 47% from 3-point range in his 19 regular-season games after the 2022 trade deadline.

Curry’s time with the Nets was marred by team turmoil that saw key players Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant leaving for other franchises. This led to a reduced role for Curry as newer acquisitions took precedence. His move to Dallas positions him alongside Doncic and Irving, forming a formidable backcourt rotation.

Notably, Seth Curry, the brother of Golden State WaWarriorsuperstar Stephen Curry, continues to be recognized as one of the premier 3-point shooters in the NBA. His career three-point shooting percentage of 43.5% ranks as the third-best among active players in the league.
