The San Antonio Spurs released guard Cameron Payne, a seasoned player who posted an average of 10.8 points and 4.5 assists during his time with the Phoenix Suns last season.
Spurs Released Gaurd Cameron Payne
Payne was brought into the Spurs’ fold on July 17, accompanied by a 2025 second-round draft pick from New Orleans and cash considerations. This trade was executed in exchange for a protected second-round pick in the 2024 draft.
The Suns, in a move to create salary cap space, traded Payne, along with a second-round pick and cash, to the Spurs. In return, they received a future-protected second-round pick.
Notably, Payne played a significant role as a reserve player for the Suns during their journey to the 2021 NBA Finals. Standing at 6-foot-1, he contributed an average of 10.8 points and 4.5 assists throughout the previous season, marking his fourth year with the Phoenix team.
