Reggie Miller, previously labeled as the “Knick Killer” due to his clutch plays against the New York Knicks in the 1990s, now envisions a promising future for the team he used to haunt. During an interview with USA TODAY Sports, Miller expressed that the Knicks have been successful in the offseason.

Chemistry and Key Signings Fuel Optimism

Reggie Miller emphasized the Knicks strong teamwork and smart decisions, such as retaining OG Anunoby and uniting four ex-Villanova players. He recognized how these decisions could affect the team’s chances of success. Even though Isaiah Hartenstein left for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Miller still has full faith in the Knicks’ progress, giving them the highest grade possible for their offseason moves.

Miller on Bronny James and the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have also been in the news, especially due to choosing Bronny James in the NBA Draft. Miller recommended being patient with James, who has displayed limited success at the Las Vegas Summer League. Miller stressed that Summer League is primarily for learning and not for achieving instant success. He encouraged supporters to value Bronny’s experience, likening it to the Griffey family’s baseball legacy.

Concerns Over NBA Media Rights

Miller voiced worries about possible alterations in NBA media contracts that could result in the cancellation of the popular “Inside the NBA” show. He commended the cultural influence of the show’s hosts, Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson. Miller declared that they go beyond the essence of basketball. Despite his fear of losing his established network connection, he remained optimistic about potential future prospects.

Miller’s All-Time Starting Five

In his discussion with Mackenzie Salmon on “Sports Seriously,” Miller shared his top five players of all time: Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Shaquille O’Neal. Despite being dominated by Shaq during the 2000 NBA title run, he still selected him.

Miller’s observations show his high regard for the sport and hopefulness about its future, whether it be during games or in other aspects.
