In an effort to strengthen their team, the 76ers have added Paul George, an ex-Clipper and All-Star, to their roster. Teaming up with Tyrese Maxey and Embiid, George’s presence adds a fresh element to the team. Theo Ratliff, ex-NBA player, thinks George’s addition offers a major improvement compared to James Harden, particularly in defense.
A Better Fit for the 76ers
During his appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Theo Ratliff talked about why Paul George is a better match for the 76ers than Harden. Ratliff emphasized George’s strong defensive skills by pointing out that Paul George excels in defense unlike James Harden. He commended George for his skill in making offensive and defensive contributions, highlighting his experience in juggling star responsibilities and his defensive strengths.
Ratliff compared George’s journey to his own, noting that George’s progression from a lesser program also helped him improve his overall skills. “He comprehends the complete entirety… He performs practical tasks while also being capable of scoring points,” Ratliff included.
Defensive Prowess
Even though James Harden impressed with his offensive abilities –making long shots, attracting fouls, and making clutch moves– he faced challenges on defense. On the other hand, Paul George excels on both offense and defense. George is recognized for his defensive abilities, frequently topping in steals and receiving All-NBA Defensive Team accolades on four occasions. The Sixers are anticipating significant advantages in the upcoming season from his 6’8” height and defensive skills.
As the 76ers prepare for the upcoming season. George’s well-rounded abilities are expected to improve their gameplay on offense and defense.
