The Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero has been confirmed to have a torn right oblique, as announced by Basketball Operations President Jeff Weltman. The injury happened in Orlando’s game against Chicago on October 30, and Banchero’s return will depend on his response to treatment, with no set timeline. The team plans to reassess him in a period of four to six weeks.

Banchero’s Stellar Start to the Season

Before getting injured, Banchero had a strong beginning, with averages of 29.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in five games. Famous for his ability to score, he achieved a career milestone by scoring a record-breaking 50 points against Indiana on October 28. This achievement made him the youngest player in Magic history to reach 50 points. Also the second youngest in NBA history to achieve 50+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in a game.

During the previous season, Banchero was the top scorer, rebounder, and assister for Orlando. Making him the youngest player in NBA history to achieve this milestone. He finished the year with an average of 22.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, securing an All-Star spot. The Magic’s valuable player, who won the 2022-23 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year award. He also achieved notable double-double and triple-double statistics, solidifying his importance to the team.
