Spurs Waive Jamaree Bouyea

The San Antonio Spurs have announced the release of guard Jamaree Bouyea as part of ongoing roster changes. Bouyea, who inked a two-way contract last year, appeared in only three matchups for the Spurs following a period with Portland. Although Bouyea had a strong showing in the Summer League, with averages of 11.8 points, 3.6 assists, and three steals in Las Vegas, he still couldn’t earn a permanent spot on the roster.

Two-Way Spot Now Available

Bouyea’s exit has created an open two-way spot on the roster. The Spurs currently have David Duke Jr. and Harrison Ingram in two of the three allocated two-way slots. The team has the opportunity to fill a current frontcourt need by adding a player with more size to the newly available slot. Nevertheless, the Spurs could also preserve roster flexibility by filling the position later in training camp.

Training Camp Looms

As training camp approaches, the Spurs will probably look into ways to improve their roster. San Antonio will start their preseason on October 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, giving chances for new players to showcase their skills. Choosing to release Bouyea could open up an opportunity for a new player to make the team during camp, leading to uncertainty in the Spurs’ roster as they focus on developing their core group.
