Alperen Sengun Shines as Western Conference Player of the Week

Sengun’s Stellar Week Lifts Rockets

Houston Rockets’ center Alperen Sengun received the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week accolade for his exceptional performances in Week 6 (Nov. 25 – Dec. 1). Sengun guided the Rockets to victories against the Timberwolves, 76ers, and Thunder, posting an average of 21.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks each game.

Rockets Rising in the West

Houston is only half a game trailing the Thunder for first place in the closely fought Western Conference. The Rockets’ solid performance has positioned them as a true contender, but with just a 3.5-game lead over the 10th-seeded Spurs, each victory is crucial. Sengun has been central to this achievement, demonstrating why he deserves his five-year, $185 million contract extension.

Career-Best Numbers for Sengun

Sengun is posting career-best numbers in several categories this season, including 18.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks each game. His enhancement in defense has been notably remarkable. Moreover, featuring a 101 defensive rating and a +3.3 defensive box plus-minus, which are both career highs.

Competing with the Best

Sengun triumphed over a competitive group of nominees. Furthermore, included Devin Booker, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ja Morant, and fellow teammate Fred VanVleet, to win the Player of the Week award. His control on both sides of the court has made him the Rockets’ nearest equivalent to a superstar.

Brunson Grabs Eastern Conference Honors

New York Knicks player Jalen Brunson received the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor.

Congratulations to Alperen Sengun for receiving well-deserved recognition as the Rockets strive for dominance in the Western Conference.
