The NBA has announced that Joshua Primo, a former player for the San Antonio Spurs, has received a four-game suspension without pay for behavior deemed detrimental to the league. This decision follows an investigation that revealed Primo’s involvement in inappropriate and offensive actions involving women.
According to the NBA’s statement, their investigation, which included consultations with relevant experts, found that Primo had engaged in inappropriate behavior by exposing himself to women. Primo asserts that his actions were unintentional, and the league did not uncover any evidence of sexual misconduct or other inappropriate behavior beyond these incidents. However, the league deemed this behavior contrary to its standards and deemed it worthy of disciplinary action.
Reported by CNN which reached out to Joshua Primo’s attorney for comment regarding the suspension.
Last October, the Spurs terminated Primo’s contract amid allegations made by a former sports psychologist working with the team. The psychologist accused Primo of exposing himself during therapy sessions. At the time, Primo’s attorney refuted the allegations, asserting their falsehood.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has informed CNN that its criminal investigations division filed an indecent exposure case against Primo in May, which is currently under review by the district attorney’s office.
The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to CNN that the case is still under review.
In November 2022, the psychologist filed a lawsuit against the Spurs, claiming that the organization’s leadership failed to take action despite her multiple complaints about Primo’s inappropriate behavior. The lawsuit was settled in November, according to her attorney.
Since his release by the Spurs, Joshua Primo has not played in the NBA.
