Exciting NBA games on Friday night saw the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, and Philadelphia 76ers all secure crucial wins.
Celtics Overcome Wizards with Late Push
The Boston Celtics faced difficulties but still pulled off a 108-96 victory over the Washington Wizards in NBA Cup competition. Jaylen Brown was the main contributor with 31 points and 11 rebounds, making a crucial jump shot in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Even with the victory, the Celtics’ struggles with shooting were clear. Jayson Tatum managed to score 16 points, however, he failed to make any of his ten attempts from beyond the arc. Boston only made 23.9% of their three-pointers, equaling their season-low in points scored. Coach Joe Mazzulla’s strategic change in energy, which involved a technical foul, contributed to shifting the momentum.
At 13-8, the Celtics are currently in second place in Eastern Conference Group C with a 2-1 record, behind the Atlanta Hawks.
Mavericks Edge Nuggets in Thriller
The Dallas Mavericks, without Luka Doncic, held off a late comeback attempt by the Denver Nuggets to secure a 123-120 victory. Naji Marshall came through with 26 points as a reserve, with P.J. Washington contributing 22. Kyrie Irving emphasized the team’s ability to bounce back, stating, “We have the mindset of stepping up when needed.”
Nikola Jokic had a triple-double of 33 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists, helping to maintain Denver’s position in the game. Dallas was up by 24 points in the third quarter until Denver made a comeback. Dallas secured the victory with a missed free throw in the final moments, highlighting their determination.
76ers Snap Losing Streak
The Philadelphia 76ers broke their five-game losing streak with a 113-98 victory against the Brooklyn Nets. Jared McCain scored 30 points, with an additional 26 points contributed by Tyrese Maxey. The 76ers succeeded even though they were without their key players Joel Embiid and Paul George. Cameron Johnson’s 37 points were insufficient for Brooklyn.
The teamwork of Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, and Philadelphia 76ers perseverance showcased during the night kept fans energized for both the NBA Cup and regular-season games.
