Luka Dončić is a Slovenian professional basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) as well as the Slovenian national team. He was born to Mirjam Poterbin, an owner of beauty salons, and Saša Dončić, a basketball coach and former player.

Dončić, who was born in Ljubljana, starred as a young player for Union Olimpija before joining Real Madrid’s youth system. At the age of 16, he made his senior squad debut for the academy, becoming the club’s youngest player ever. He guided Madrid to the 2018 EuroLeague victory and was named EuroLeague MVP as well as Final Four MVP two years later. Dončić also won back-to-back EuroLeague Rising Star and ACB Best Young Player trophies, as well as being named the ACB Most Valuable Player. He was named to the EuroLeague All-Decade Team from 2010 to 20.

Doni declared for the NBA draught in 2018 and was selected by the Dallas Mavericks. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team unanimously and was named Rookie of the Year for the 2018–19 season. He was selected to his first NBA All-Star game and named to the All-NBA First Team in his sophomore season. He has the most career triple-doubles for the Mavericks.
