The NBA coaching carousel is in full swing, with developments beyond the Lakers’ coaching search. Here’s the latest buzz from around the league:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers are actively seeking a new head coach to lead their talented roster. They’re eyeing James Borrego, an assistant coach from New Orleans and former head coach of the Hornets. Borrego, also a candidate for the Lakers’ job, is scheduled to meet with the Cavaliers on Tuesday. His offensive acumen could make him an ideal fit for Cleveland, but much depends on the roster’s makeup, especially with Donovan Mitchell’s looming free agency decision.
  • Meanwhile, Darvin Ham is returning to Milwaukee as the lead assistant coach under Doc Rivers. Ham previously served as the Bucks’ lead assistant during Mike Budenholzer’s tenure and brings valuable experience to Rivers’ staff. He comes back to Wisconsin after a stint as the head coach of the Lakers, where he guided the team to the Western Conference Finals but faced challenges with star players like Anthony Davis.
  • Joining Ham in Milwaukee is Greg Buckner, a former assistant coach with the Cavaliers. Buckner will reunite with Rivers and bolster the Bucks’ coaching staff.
  • On the other hand, Budenholzer is making additions to his coaching team in Phoenix. He’s bringing on board Mike Hopkins, a former Pac-12 Coach of the Year known for his coaching stint at the University of Washington. Hopkins’ experience and expertise will be valuable assets for the Suns’ coaching staff.

The NBA coaching carousel continues to spin, with teams making moves to strengthen their coaching ranks ahead of the upcoming season and free agency period.
