Rivals national analyst Rob Cassidy is back with answers to your recruiting questions. This week, Cassidy addresses the quiet recruiting cycle at St. John’s, Syracuse’s chances with Acaden Lewis, and the leading contenders for top four-star prospects.

St. John’s Quiet Recruiting Cycle:

It’s been a notably subdued recruiting period for St. John’s. Head coach Rick Pitino’s presence on the grassroots circuit has been minimal, with a noticeable absence from key events like Peach Jam. Currently, the Red Storm’s only known target for the 2025 class is four-star guard Kayden Mingo. However, there has been little recent buzz about Mingo and St. John’s. Sources in New York speculate that the team might focus more on international recruits or the transfer portal this cycle before intensifying efforts for the 2026 class.

Syracuse’s Chances with Acaden Lewis:

Syracuse faces stiff competition in its pursuit of four-star prospect Acaden Lewis. Although recent rumours suggest UConn might shift its focus from Meleek Thomas to Lewis, these claims are not fully confirmed. If UConn indeed decides to target Lewis, Syracuse will face a tough battle, especially given the Orange’s recent struggles. Under second-year head coach Adrian Autry, Syracuse has shown promise but missed the NCAA Tournament last season despite a 20-win campaign. The increasing interest in Lewis makes Syracuse’s task more challenging, particularly if NIL deals are competitive.

Top Contenders for Hudson Greer and Darius Adams:

Regarding Hudson Greer and Darius Adams, the recruitment landscape is starting to clarify. For Adams, a five-star guard, Alabama, Tennessee, and Michigan State are the key players. Although Adams has yet to prioritize these programs, they are expected to remain in contention.

For Greer, Arizona currently holds a slight edge, with Kansas close behind. UConn could also enter the mix depending on how Greer’s upcoming visit to Storrs unfolds. As of now, the top contenders for Greer are Arizona, Kansas, and potentially UConn, with other programs less likely to secure his commitment.

Stay tuned as recruiting developments continue to evolve.
