Luka Doncic may return to the Dallas Mavericks soon after sitting out four games with a right wrist sprain. On Friday, head coach Jason Kidd gave a positive report, stating, “He participated in practice today, so we will wait to see how he feels tomorrow.” The Mavericks would greatly benefit from Doncic’s comeback as they have heavily depended on his leadership throughout this season.
The injury took place in Dallas’ November 19 matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans. Doncic remembered, “I’m not sure how the injury occurred… but it’s nothing major.” However, he has been sidelined for ten days due to the recovery process. Dallas has done well without him, they have won three out of their last four games, with the only defeat being against the Miami Heat.
Klay Thompson’s Return Still Unclear
As Doncic moves closer to returning to play, there is still uncertainty surrounding Klay Thompson’s comeback. Thompson has sat out of the previous two games for Dallas because of a problem with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Jason Kidd gave a report, saying, “He appears to be in good shape for his capabilities,” but confirmed that Thompson did not participate in practice on Friday.
Even though Thompson has been practicing his shooting skills, it is still unknown when he will return. It appears improbable that he will be in uniform for the upcoming Mavericks’ game.
Mavericks Gear Up for Utah Jazz
The Mavericks are set to play against the Utah Jazz on Saturday at the Delta Center, hoping to secure their third straight victory. Even without Luka, Dallas remains competitive and has now improved to an 11-8 record. Kyrie Irving, Jaden Hardy, Naji Marshall, and Spencer Dinwiddie have all shown up. Helping the team stay competitive for a spot in the playoffs.
Doncic’s possible comeback may provide Dallas with the advantage necessary as they move up the ranks in the Western Conference.
