Vanderbilt was acquired by the Lakers from the Utah Jazz in February and quickly established himself as a crucial rotational player during their impressive late-season journey to the Western Conference finals.

Vanderbilt’s NBA career began with the Denver Nuggets after being drafted by the Orlando Magic in the second round in 2018. He subsequently spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, featuring in 140 games over three seasons before joining the Jazz last summer.

The Lakers made significant improvements to their roster during the trade deadline, resulting in an 18-8 record and two playoff rounds won. General Manager Rob Pelinka has spent the summer securing key players from last season, including LeBron James and Anthony Davis, through contract extensions. Additionally, the Lakers have made acquisitions such as Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, and Christian Wood.
