Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball is expected to come back to the floor after having multiple knee injuries since January this year. Billy Donovan, the head coach for the team, said that Ball would feature in this preseason though he will not play in the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ball has had three knee surgeries in recent years which include a cartilage transfer in March 2023, in his bid to return to the game.
Ball’s Impact Before the Injury
However, the player that was most impacted in the 2021-22 season was Ball before his disability. He scored 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and provided 5.1 assists per game playing 35 games. They started the season flying high in the Eastern conference with Ball together with other prominent players including DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vučević. His injury, however, brought a slump to his performance, and the Bulls only managed to get the sixth position in the east with 46-36 records, and they lost to Milwaukee Bucks in playoffs.
A Beacon of Hope for the Bulls
The Bulls suffered when Ball missed games, finishing the past two seasons with a losing record and not getting out of the play-in round. It can be said that it was bad enough that the team had lost DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings this year. Nevertheless, Ball’s availability to play the next game gives Tulsa hope tied to a team that needs to rise.
Lonzo’s Preseason Chances
Lonzo Ball will not suit up for Tuesday’s match against the Bulls but he has four more games remaining until the start of the regular season on the 23rd of October against the New Orleans Pelicans. His next opportunity to suit up will be this coming Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies on board. People who waste no time in rubbing it in that the Bulls will be fortunate to have Ball back among them and how he’ll stir a struggling team into shape.
