Kyrie Irving recently spoke about his performance in the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, revealing his disappointment with his play. The Dallas Mavericks reached the Finals for the first time since their victory in 2011, with Irving and Luka Doncic as leaders. Even though they had a great season, Kyrie Irving confessed to facing personal challenges during the Finals.
“Blood is in the Water”
During an honest Twitch stream, Irving discussed his opinions on the Mavericks’ defeat in the Finals. “He expressed disappointment with last year’s failure as a team to win the Finals,” he stated. He admitted that his performance, especially towards the end of the season, did not meet his usual expectations. “I haven’t been performing my greatest towards the end, and it’s been consuming me in a positive manner.”
Irving’s introspection is driving his enthusiasm for the upcoming season. We will return soon. “I’m just going to enjoy myself and deal with things one day at a time,” he stated, despite not avoiding the pain of losing. However, it really stinks to lose.
Mavericks Eye Another Finals Run
The Mavericks are facing challenges in keeping up with their previous success in the Finals, but they are not giving up. With the recent inclusion of Klay Thompson during the offseason, the team is hoping to reach the Finals again. Owner Mark Cuban’s confidence in the team’s future was highlighted by the strong bond between Doncic and Irving.
Cuban said they learned how to play together during training camp. They not only learned to work well together but also improved the performance of others around them.
While getting ready for the upcoming season, the Mavericks are focused on making a comeback, and Irving is prepared to meet the challenge.
