The New York Knicks are set to continue their Christmas Day tradition with a high-profile matchup against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Knicks will host the Spurs in the first game of the NBA’s five-game Christmas Day slate on December 25th. This marks the fourth consecutive year, and the fourth in the last six seasons, that the Knicks will be part of the NBA’s festive lineup.

Last Christmas, the Knicks delivered an impressive 129-122 victory over Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, with Jalen Brunson leading the charge with a stellar 38-point performance, while Giannis countered with 32 points for the Bucks.

The Knicks and Spurs split their two meetings last season. The first encounter at Madison Square Garden on November 8th saw the Knicks dominate with a 126-105 win. However, the Spurs exacted revenge in San Antonio on March 29th, edging out the Knicks 130-126 in an overtime thriller. That game was a showcase of emerging talent, as Jalen Brunson erupted for a career-high 61 points on 25-of-47 shooting, while the rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama impressed with 40 points and 20 rebounds.

The Knicks vs. Spurs game will kick off a day packed with marquee matchups, including the Mavericks hosting the Timberwolves, the Celtics facing the 76ers, the Warriors taking on the Lakers at home, and the Nuggets battling the Suns in Phoenix.

This Christmas Day game at Madison Square Garden is poised to be a must-watch event, with Wembanyama’s first appearance on the holiday stage adding extra excitement to the Knicks’ annual celebration.
