The Dallas Mavericks caused a stir by inking a 3-year, $50 million contract with Klay Thompson before the upcoming NBA season. During practice, Thompson, who gained fame with the Golden State Warriors, was seen wearing Dirk Nowitzki’s famous No. 41 jersey. Dirk paid attention and voiced his opinions.

“I did manage to capture that photo during the summer… really awesome and definitely feel privileged,” Nowitzki shared on the DLLS Mavs podcast. “I’m thrilled that one of the ‘Splash Bros’ is now part of the Mavericks.”

Dirk Nowitzki and Klay Thompson’s Connection

Nowitzki also addressed his connection with Thompson, which started during his last All-Star Game in 2019. He’s a super cool dude who enjoys relaxing and getting good vibes. Nowitzki said they have a strong bond and mutual admiration, showing his enthusiasm for Thompson coming to Dallas.

Nowitzki’s Message to Luka Doncic

In the same podcast, Nowitzki gave words of support to Luka Doncic after the Mavericks’ difficult Finals defeat against the Celtics. Nowitzki recommended to continue with the current actions. “At just 25 years old, a bit of disappointment can sometimes motivate you to return even more resilient.”

Nowitzki highlighted the significance of maintaining good health while commending Doncic’s top-tier performance, stating, “Luka is excelling at the highest level despite the long season ahead.”

Mark Cuban on Doncic-Irving Chemistry

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban also commented on how the collaboration between Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving propelled Dallas to the Finals. “When training camp started, they had figured out how to play as a team,” Cuban mentioned during The Roommates Show. He commended head coach Jason Kidd for handling their skills effectively and emphasized how their teamwork improved the whole team.

Cuban concluded it was unique to witness how they lifted the team.
