The Boston Celtics, along with Jayson Tatum, had a strong start to the 2024-25 NBA season by beating the New York Knicks by 132-109. The current champions not only continued their success but also equalled the NBA record by hitting 29 three-pointers, matching the Milwaukee Bucks’ achievement against the Miami Heat in 2020.

Tatum Leads the Charge

Jayson Tatum immediately established the Celtics’ rhythm by hitting a three-point shot on their opening possession. Tatum wrapped up the game with a total of 37 points, making 8 out of 11 shots from three-point range. His accurate shooting caused a strong start in the first quarter, with the Celtics making 10 three-pointers and taking a 43-24 lead.

All-Around Shooting Clinic

Each of the five Boston starters played a part in the three-point onslaught. Jaylen Brown made five three-point shots, and Derrick White made six. Al Horford matched the NBA record by hitting his 29th three-pointer in the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, the Celtics failed to make their last 13 shots, narrowly missing the chance to break the record. Following the game, Brown playfully remarked, “It felt as though we were cursed or something.”

The Future Looks Even Brighter

The Celtics are already extremely impressive, and they haven’t even brought back Kristaps Porziņģis, who is still recovering from a foot injury. Adding to the firepower of Tatum and Brown in the frontcourt, his shooting skills and flexibility will further enhance Boston’s threat level.

Next Up: Washington Wizards

The Celtics will travel to play the Washington Wizards on Thursday in their next game. Following this successful start to the season, the team appears prepared to keep their streak of victories going.
