James Edward Harden Jr. is an American professional basket player who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is an absolute legend of the game, being one of the NBA’s most prolific scorers. He is widely considered the greatest Shooting Guard in the NBA as well as one of the best players ever.
He was named All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2009 when he used to play basketball for Arizona State Sun Devils. The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Harden with the third overall choice in the 2009 NBA draught. He was voted NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2012 after helping the Thunder reach the NBA Finals, where they were defeated by the Miami Heat in five games.
He refused to sign a new contract with the Thunders and instead switched sides to Houston Rockets before the 2012-13 season, after being in an unhappy situation with his teammates, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. He was named to his first All-NBA Team (a third-team selection), as well as his first NBA All-Star team after having a stellar first season with the Rockets, breaking quite a few records as well.
He would lead the league in scoring three times and assist once over the following seven and a half seasons with the franchise. He was also voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2018. He was chosen to eight NBA All-Star teams in a row and seven All-NBA Team honors, including six first-team selections, during his stint in Houston. Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a four-team transaction at the start of the 2020–21 season. He was selected to his ninth and tenth All-Star games with the Nets. Harden was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in October 2021, recognizing him as one of the league’s best players of all time.
