Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns had outstanding showings on Wednesday evening, propelling the New York Knicks to a commanding 138-122 victory against the Phoenix Suns. Jalen Brunson scored 36 points and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 34 points, helping the Knicks secure their fourth consecutive victory.
Knicks Start Hot and Never Look Back
The Knicks established an early lead by making their first eight shots, with four coming from three-point range. At the conclusion of the initial quarter, they had established a strong 44-28 advantage, which expanded to 76-58 by halftime. Brunson dominated the first half with 23 points, making 8 out of 9 shots and hitting all four of his 3-pointers.
Josh Hart recorded 19 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in a double-double performance, as all five Knicks starters each scored at least ten points. The Suns were constantly on the defensive against the team’s well-rounded offense all night.
Suns Struggle Without Key Players
The Suns, who were plagued with injuries, were missing both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal due to left calf strains. Despite Devin Booker’s 33-point performance on 12-of-23 shooting, his contributions were not enough to make up for the subpar defense of the Phoenix team. The Suns are currently on a five-game losing streak, having difficulty finding their groove on offense and defense.
Knicks Show Their Depth
New York demonstrated the expected firepower upon acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks’ strong and multi-faceted starting lineup poses a formidable challenge for opposing defenses. “We’re creating something unique,” Brunson stated after the game.
