Stephen Curry, the star player for the Golden State Warriors, will not be playing until at least Monday due to an ankle injury he suffered in the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers last Sunday. An MRI showed that Curry had a left peroneal strain, resulting in him being absent for the previous two games. The Warriors stated that he will be undergoing further assessment on Sunday.
Warriors Feel Curry’s Absence on the Court
The team is missing Curry as they prepare for consecutive away games against the Houston Rockets on Saturday and the Washington Wizards on Monday. During Sunday’s match, Curry added 18 points to his score, along with six assists and four rebounds, before injuring his ankle again while trying to get past Clippers’ Kris Dunn. Curry limped to the sideline in the third quarter, then came back briefly in the fourth quarter before leaving the game permanently.
Melton’s Injury Further Challenges Warriors’ Roster
In addition to Golden State’s injury problems, guard De’Anthony Melton is still recovering from a lower back strain and will be off the court for at least another week. The Warriors, starting off with a strong 4-1 record, are optimistic for a speedy return of both guards in order to sustain their momentum.
Two-Time MVP Eager for a Return
Fans and teammates are eagerly awaiting Curry’s return as the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers. He displayed potential in the beginning of the season, making 6 out of 11 shots including four 3-pointers against the Clippers. Warriors fans anticipate Sunday’s announcement, optimistic that the star Stephen Curry will return to play soon and guide the team in a successful season.
