The Atlanta Hawks announced on Tuesday that they are waiving center Bruno Fernando. This decision comes ahead of Fernando’s contract guarantee date on August 1, which had already been pushed back twice. By waiving Fernando, the Hawks avoid guaranteeing his $2.7 million salary for the 2024-25 season.
Bruno Fernando, who had two stints with the Hawks (2019-2021 and 2023-2024), averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game last season. Despite his contributions, the team has decided to part ways. The Hawks expressed their gratitude for his passion and energy during his time with the team.

Welcome Dominick Barlow
In a corresponding move, the Hawks signed Dominick Barlow to a two-way contract. Barlow, a 6-foot-9 forward/center with a 7-foot-3 wingspan, brings a strong defensive presence to the team. Undrafted out of high school in 2022, Barlow played a season with Overtime Elite in Atlanta before joining the NBA.
Barlow spent two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, posting averages of 4.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.5 blocks in 13.6 minutes per game. His local connection and defensive skills make him a valuable addition to the Hawks’ roster.
Barlow joins Seth Lundy and Keaton Wallace as two-way players, with all three expected to see significant time with the College Park Skyhawks next season. The Hawks are hopeful that Barlow’s defensive prowess will bolster their depth and provide valuable minutes both in the NBA and with their G League affiliate.
