The Grizzlies find themselves in a roster bind necessitating a move to accommodate Morant’s return. Michael Cole, The Commercial Appeal’s Grizzlies beat reporter, reports that the team plans to waive fan-favorite reserve Kenneth Lofton Jr. to create space for their returning All-Star.
Lofton, an undrafted talent in 2022, made an impact last season after joining the Grizzlies on a two-way deal. His exceptional performance earned him the G-League’s Rookie of the Year honor, averaging over 25 points per game across 13 appearances for the Memphis Hustle. Notably, he showcased his skills in a memorable game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, securing 42 points and 14 rebounds.
Beyond his on-court contributions, Lofton’s unique physical attributes endeared him to fans. Standing at 6-foot-7 but carrying considerable weight, listed at 275 pounds last season and reportedly near 300 pounds this year, Lofton earned the affectionate moniker “Snacks Randolph,” paying homage to beloved Grizzlies icon Zach Randolph.
