The Memphis Grizzlies’ Steven Adams’ season-ending surgery, will miss the rest of the season. Adams, who sprained his right knee’s posterior cruciate ligament last January, won’t return this season despite attempts at non-operative rehabilitation. The team expects him to make a full recovery for the 2024-25 season.
Grizzlies’ Steven Adams’ Season-Ending Surgery
This development presents an additional challenge for the Grizzlies in the 2023-24 season, as they are already without star guard Ja Morant (serving a 25-game league suspension) and big man Brandon Clarke (recovering from an Achilles injury).
Standing at 6 feet 11 inches, Adams was a crucial rebounder and defender for the team, contributing to their strong rebounding performance last season. However, his injury significantly impacted their rankings in both rebound percentage and offensive rebound percentage.
Steven Adams joined the Grizzlies at the beginning of the 2021-22 season after spending a year with the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2020-21 season. Before that, he played for the Oklahoma City Thunder for seven years. Over his ten-year career, Adams has averaged 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
