As the Predict 2024-25 NBA season approaches, both the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings are looking to build on their previous campaigns with significant roster changes and high expectations. However, ESPN experts have weighed in on where these teams might stand in a competitive Western Conference, and the outlook is varied.

The Golden State Warriors, who recently lost key players Klay Thompson and Chris Paul in free agency, have retooled by adding De’Anthony Melton, Buddy Hield, and Kyle Anderson. Despite these additions, ESPN predicts a slight decline for the Warriors, forecasting a 45-37 record. This would be one game fewer than last season’s 46-36 finish and place them in the No. 8 seed. The prediction suggests that while the Warriors have managed to stay competitive, they might still find themselves battling in the play-in tournament for a spot in the playoffs.

On the other hand, the Sacramento Kings, who re-signed guard Malik Monk and made a splash by acquiring star guard DeMar DeRozan, are expected to take a step forward. ESPN experts predict the Kings will finish with a 47-35 record, improving by one win compared to last season. This performance could elevate them to the No. 6 seed, allowing them to avoid the play-in tournament and secure a direct playoff berth. The combination of DeRozan with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis is anticipated to form one of the most clutch backcourts in the league, potentially making the Kings a formidable force.

In comparison, the top contenders in the West, according to ESPN, include teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks, with the Thunder leading the pack with a predicted 57-25 record. Meanwhile, teams like the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies are expected to be part of the play-in group, alongside the Warriors.

The Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers, both projected to finish near the bottom of the play-in bracket, face tough seasons ahead, with ESPN predicting records of 44-38 and 43-39, respectively.

Ultimately, the ESPN experts Predict 2024-25 see the Kings making a notable leap in the standings, while the Warriors, despite their best efforts, may find themselves in a familiar play-in scenario as they navigate a challenging Western Conference.
