Eight-Year NBA Veteran Officially Signed by Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets have officially signed a contract with Boban Marjanović, an eight-year NBA veteran of experience. Marjanović recently completed a season during which he participated in 31 regular-season games for the Houston Rockets.

Impressive Stats for an NBA Veteran

Eight-year NBA veteran, with eight years of experience under his belt, averaged 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game during the last season, showcasing an impressive field goal percentage of 68.3%.

A Return to the Rockets

Despite entering free agency this summer, Marjanović has now officially recommitted to the Rockets. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski initially broke this news earlier this month.

As reported by Wojnarowski on September 10th: “Boban’s Back: Free agent C Boban Marjanović is returning to the Houston Rockets on a one-year deal, Mike Lindeman and Jeff Schwartz of @excelbasketball tell ESPN. Marjanovic is entering his ninth season, including stops with Spurs, Pistons, Clippers, Sixers, Mavericks.”

A Diverse NBA Journey

Marjanović initially entered the NBA undrafted in 2010 and has had stints with various teams including the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, and now the Rockets.

Impressive Career Averages

Throughout his extensive career spanning 317 regular-season games, Marjanović has consistently maintained averages of 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, with an impressive field goal percentage of 57.9%. He has also made appearances in 31 NBA playoff games.

A Valuable Veteran Presence

Given Marjanović’s wealth of experience and his age of 35, he serves as a valuable veteran presence for the youthful Rockets squad.

Challenges Faced by the Rockets

The Rockets recently concluded a challenging season, finishing as the 14th seed in the Western Conference with a 22-60 record. Despite their talent, they have missed the NBA playoffs for the third consecutive year.

The franchise initiated a rebuilding phase when they traded the 2018 MVP, James Harden, to the Brooklyn Nets during the middle of the 2020-21 season.
