Danilo Gallinari, aged 36, is looking to have one final season in the NBA before he calls it quits. During a recent conversation with Italian news outlet La Repubblica (via BasketNews), Gallinari talked about his basketball career and his wish to stay in the NBA for one last season.

Inquiring about a possible comeback to Italy and the EuroLeague, Gallinari said, “Not at the moment.” I still have time left in the market. “Anything is possible at any moment.” The experienced forward stays optimistic about opportunities with a successful team, staying flexible as free agency progresses.

An Injury-Plagued Journey

Danilo Gallinari became a part of the Boston Celtics two years back through a significant free agent signing; however, a torn ACL forced him to sit out the entire season of 2022/23. During the previous summer, the Celtics included him in the Kristaps Porzingis trade with the Washington Wizards. Gallinari competed in 26 matches for the Wizards before being transferred to Detroit. Where he featured in only six games before getting released.

Gallinari was acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks in the middle of February. However, he only played minimally with an average of 9.1 minutes per game in 17 games. His points per game hit a career low of 5.7, with his field goal percentage dropping to 43.7% and his three-point shooting percentage falling to 32.3%.

Looking Ahead

Even though he faced difficulties in the previous seasons, Gallinari persisted in displaying his talents. He was named the MVP in the Trentino Basketball Cup while playing for the Italian national team and is currently practicing with Treviglio in Italy. Gallinari is getting ready for a potential last season and is open to whatever may come his way, be it in the NBA or in another location.

After retiring, Gallinari showed desire to move into a management position, preferably with an NBA franchise. His ability to lead both on and off the court indicates a seamless move into this next phase.
