This season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are achieving a historic 15-0 record after defeating the Charlotte Hornets 128-114 on Sunday night. The Cavs’ win at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Ohio solidifies their position as the top team in the NBA’s Eastern Conference and one of just four teams to begin a season 15-0 in league history.

Garland Leads a Balanced Attack

Darius Garland excelled with 25 points and 12 assists, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to their most recent victory. Ty Jerome stepped in for Donovan Mitchell effortlessly and contributed 24 points. Evan Mobley recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Jarrett Allen chipped in 21 points and 15 rebounds, highlighting the depth of Cleveland’s roster.

Hornets Fight Hard but Fall Short

LaMelo Ball shined for Charlotte, scoring 31 points and dishing out 12 assists, displaying moments of brilliance. Miles Bridges contributed 19 points, while Josh Green, Grant Williams, and Brandon Miller each scored 15 points. In spite of their attempts, the Hornets were unable to halt the Cavaliers’ momentum.

Joining Elite Company

Cleveland Cavaliers, along with the 2016 Golden State Warriors, the 1994 Houston Rockets, and the 1949 Washington Capitols, is one of the few teams to have a 15-0 season start. All three of the past teams made it to the NBA Finals, and the Rockets were the ones who won the championship.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are now aiming to break the NBA record for the best start set by the Warriors at 24-0. Cleveland’s strong core leads dominant play, raising hopes of mirroring the Rockets’ championship success.
