Canada etched its name in history with an impressive display of teamwork and ball-sharing, achieving a new milestone for assists in a single game at the Canada FIBA Basketball World Cup record by an outstanding count of 44 assists.
Just four years ago, Canada equaled the previous record for assists with 37 against Jordan, matching Serbia’s performance during the 2019 tournament.
However, Canada went beyond this achievement with an extraordinary and successfully claimed an other Canada FIBA Basketball World Cup record performance at the Indonesia Arena, becoming the first team to achieve over 40 assists in a single World Cup game since data collection began in 1994.
Leading the charge, Trae Bell-Haynes contributed 8 assists, closely followed by Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 7. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kelly Olynyk, and Phil Scrubb each provided 5 assists, contributing to this remarkable feat.
