The anticipation for the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game is building, and two of the league’s brightest rookies, Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, are leading the charge in fan voting. Clark is currently second with 216,427 votes, while Reese is seventh with 118,490 votes.

This year’s All-Star Game, set for July 20 in Phoenix, will feature a unique format of Team USA vs. Team WNBA. If Clark and Reese make the All-Star team, they will automatically be assigned to Team WNBA, marking their first time playing together.

All-Star Voting and Roster Selection

Fan voting, which accounts for 50% of the final tally, will conclude on June 29. The remaining 50% is split equally between player and media votes. The official rosters will be revealed on July 3. Ahead of a recent matchup between the Fever and the Sky, Clark commented on the potential of teaming up with Reese:

“A lot of hypotheticals,” Clark said. “I think both of us would probably tell you our focus is on playing basketball, and if that works out for the both of us, great, that would be a lot of fun — we’ve never played together. I guess I don’t really know what all goes into how they select the All-Star team — I’m new to the league. I know fan vote is part of it, but there’s also other criteria, it’s not just fan vote. She’s had a tremendous season, and if that was to happen, I’m sure people would love it.”

Stellar Rookie Seasons

Clark and Reese, who were drafted No. 1 and No. 7 respectively in the 2024 WNBA Draft, are having remarkable rookie seasons and are front-runners for Rookie of the Year.

Caitlin Clark:
  • Averaging 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
  • On track to be the fourth player to average at least 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a season.
  • Leads all rookies in scoring, assists, and 3-pointers made.
  • Ranks fourth in assists and third in 3-pointers among all players.

Angel Reese:

  • Averaging 12.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game.
  • Set a new rookie record with seven consecutive double-doubles.
  • Leads all rookies in rebounding and steals.
  • Tops the league in offensive rebounds with a 20-rebound margin.

Off-Court Impact of Caitlin Clark

Beyond their on-court performances, Clark and Reese have significantly boosted the league’s visibility. Their recent game on June 16, broadcast by CBS, averaged 2.252 million viewers and peaked at nearly three million, making it the most-watched WNBA game in 23 years and the most-streamed WNBA game ever.

As fan voting concludes and the All-Star rosters are finalized, the potential pairing of Clark and Reese on Team WNBA promises to be a highlight of the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, showcasing the talent and star power of the league’s next generation.
