Key Highlights:
- Home Court Advantage: The Cougars will enjoy a heavy home-court presence, with six consecutive home games to open the season and eight of their 11 nonconference matchups taking place at the Marriott Center.
- Road Challenges: BYU’s only true road game during nonconference play will be against Providence on December 3 as part of the Big 12-Big East Battle. This marks BYU’s first visit to Providence Pavilion since their memorable 1981 Elite Eight run.
- Tournament Play: Over Thanksgiving, BYU will participate in the Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego, where they will face two out of three strong opponents: Purdue, Ole Miss, and NC State. Both Purdue and NC State made it to the Final Four in 2024, though BYU did defeat NC State during the Vegas Showdown.
- Neutral-Site Game: The Cougars will also play a neutral-site game against Wyoming on December 14 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
- New Matchup: The schedule features BYU’s first-ever meeting with Queens University, adding a fresh face to their list of opponents.
What’s Still Unknown:
The dates for BYU’s Big 12 conference schedule have yet to be finalized. The conference announced the 2024-25 scheduling matrix in June, with BYU set to play 20 league games. The Cougars will face some tough competition with home-and-away matchups against teams like Arizona, Utah, and West Virginia, and notable single games against powerhouses like Kansas and Baylor.
As BYU gears up for a challenging season ahead, fans can look forward to seeing how the team performs under new leadership and against a mix of familiar and fresh opponents.
