Following an abysmal season and after making those massive roster moves, it seemingly appears that the Brooklyn Nets open to trading. Off their surprise deal that shipped star Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks, the Nets have opened up on moving the three other veterans-Dennis Schroder, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Bojan Bogdanovic. The team is listening to offers for those players, according to a report by Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

The Nets wrapped up the worst season since the 2017-18 campaign, finishing with an abysmal 32-50 record. The Brooklyn franchise parted ways with head coach Jacque Vaughn during the middle of the season and named Kevin Ollie as his interim replacement. With training camp looming, it seems now that the Nets are preparing for more significant changes to take place in their roster.

Dennis Schroder: Veteran Leadership on the Move?

Acquired from the Toronto Raptors before the 2024 NBA trade deadline, Dennis Schroder appeared in 29 games for the Nets and started 25 of them. Schroder averaged 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting an eye-turning 41.2% beyond the arc. At 31 years of age, he could very well not fit Brooklyn’s rebuilding timeline.

Schroder has made it known that he’d like to be in Brooklyn long-term. “I want to be in Brooklyn long-term. Hopefully, that works out,” he said, adding that he hopes to bring a team-first mentality to the franchise. With only one year remaining on his deal, though, the Nets might look to deal him before his value starts to decrease.

Dorian Finney-Smith: A Potential Trade Asset

Dorian Finney-Smith has been a starter for the Nets over the past two seasons, acquired in the 2023 Kyrie Irving trade. The forward started 82 of his 96 games with Brooklyn, with averages of 8.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists. While Finney-Smith still has two years remaining on his deal, he has a player option for the 2025-26 season when he’ll be 32. A trade would benefit him and the organization in the interest of maximizing his value.

Bojan Bogdanovic: On the Trade Block Again

The pick-up in the Bridges trade, Bojan Bogdanovic, will probably be moved as well. He is 35 years old and in the final year of his $19 million contract. Although at this advanced stage of his career, he is still an adequate contributor, having finished ninth in the Sixth Man of the Year voting last season. While he could still bring meaningful contributions to a contending team, the expectation is that the Nets will move him before the trade deadline.

Brooklyn Nets open to trading seems like as Brooklyn is entering this new era, they will move key veterans in the name of a complete rebuild. And since training camp is around the corner, these moves are most likely to become a pivotal part of their plans.
