Bronny James, the 20-year-old son of NBA icon LeBron James, had a remarkable G League debut on Saturday, netting six points as the South Bay Lakers defeated the Salt Lake City Stars 110-96. Bronny, selected 55th in the 2024 NBA Draft, demonstrated his developing abilities, ending the game with three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.

Family and Lakers Stars Show Support

LeBron James observed from the sidelines, accompanied by his spouse Savannah, daughter Zuri, and Bronny’s grandmother, Gloria. Lakers players Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and general manager Rob Pelinka were also present to back Bronny. With LeBron and Lakers coach J.J. Redick supporting Bronny’s stint in the G League. The young guard is concentrating on his growth at the Lakers’ training facility.

Highlight Moments on the Court

Bronny scored his first G League basket just 43 seconds into the game with a smooth pull-up jumper. He continued with a floater in the second quarter and subsequently made a free throw under the G League’s experimental rule. Where one foul shot can be worth two or three points. Bronny’s playmaking excelled as well, as he executed a perfectly timed lob to Kylor Kelley for an alley-oop and partially deflected a layup from Isaiah Wong. Which resulted in an important 3-pointer by Maxwell Lewis.

Growing into His Role

This game represented Bronny’s longest performance since he scored 15 points in the Lakers’ preseason finale. Despite having seen limited playing time in five NBA games to date. Saturday’s outing highlighted his potential as he works on improving his skills in the G League. Bronny’s path, supported by his iconic father, is only getting started.
