Bronny James recently participated in a pre-draft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. The Lakers, who have LeBron James on their roster and hold the 17th and 55th picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, are considering Bronny as a potential addition to their team.

Bronny, LeBron’s eldest son, spent one season playing for USC. Despite a challenging start due to a cardiac arrest last summer, which caused him to miss the beginning of his freshman season, Bronny has had a notable pre-draft process. His performance at the NBA Combine in Chicago, particularly in shooting drills and scrimmages, has garnered positive attention.

Initially ranked as a top-30 player in his recruiting class, Bronny faced difficulties early on but managed to average 4.8 points and 2.1 assists per game in a limited role with the Trojans. His recent performances have shown his potential, especially his athleticism, defensive skills, and shooting ability.

Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed that Bronny worked out for the Lakers, highlighting the team’s interest in him. The possibility of Bronny playing alongside his father, LeBron, who might return to the Lakers if he opts out of free agency, adds an intriguing dimension to the team’s draft considerations.

Despite his famous lineage, Bronny has expressed a desire to be recognized for his own merits. At the Combine, he emphasized his focus on his development and potential in the league rather than the prospect of playing with his father. “I would be happy about getting to the league instead of thinking about playing with my dad,” Bronny stated. “But that’s not my mindset at all. I’m just trying to put in the work and see where it takes me.”

According to the latest mock draft by CBS Sports, Bronny is projected to be selected at No. 43 by the Miami Heat, 12 picks before the Lakers’ second-round selection. As the June 26 draft approaches, Bronny remains a notable prospect, with his ties to the Lakers adding to the anticipation.
