In a recent announcement, the NBA revealed that Bilal Coulibaly, the rookie from the Washington Wizards, has earned a coveted spot on the 2024 Panini Rising Stars roster for the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis.
Pride in Representation
Expressing immense pride, Coulibaly shared his excitement about representing the Wizards organization, the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia), and the passionate fanbase at the esteemed All-Star Weekend. The young player also conveyed his humility at the opportunity to showcase his talents on the global stage and represent France.
Stellar Rookie Performance
Acquired by the Wizards through a draft night trade after being the seventh overall pick by the Indiana Pacers, Coulibaly has delivered an impressive performance on the court. Averaging 8.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, the versatile rookie has demonstrated his skills. Noteworthy statistics include a shooting percentage of .464 from the floor and an impressive .390 from three-point range. Coulibaly ranks among the top rookies in various categories, such as total minutes played, steals, blocks, three-point percentage, points scored, rebounds, and field goal percentage.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Joining Victor Wembanyama, Bilal Coulibaly stands out as one of the only two rookies to achieve 40+ made threes, 35+ steals, and 35+ blocks in the current season. His exceptional performance includes setting a record with seven games featuring three or more steals, a remarkable feat for a first-year player. Additionally, Coulibaly made history as the youngest player in franchise history to start a game at 19 years and 96 days. Achieving the youngest double-double in team history at 19 years and 135 days further solidified his impact.

Rising Stars Player Pool
The Rising Stars player pool is composed of 11 NBA rookies, 10 second-year NBA players, and seven NBA G League players. NBA’s players will draft onto four teams, with NBA legends Pau Gasol, Tamika Catchings, and Jalen Rose serving as captains during the Rising Stars Draft on February 6. Detlef Schrempf will coach the team of NBA G League players.
Selection Process
NBA assistant coaches played a crucial role in the selection process, submitting ballots where each coaching staff chose four frontcourt players, four guards, and two additional players at either position. Notably, coaches didnot permit to vote for players from their own team. The NBA participants for Panini Rising Stars were selected based on the total points received from the ballots, with the player pool including one more rookie than sophomore based on total points.
No question, Bilal Coulibaly is a Rising Star.
