Multiple reports have stated that Alperen Şengün, center for the Houston Rockets, has accepted a rookie extension worth $185 million over 5 years, including a player option for the last season. At the age of 22, the Turkish player has experienced remarkable development during his three years with the Rockets, reaching personal bests in points (21.1 per game), rebounds (9.3), assists (5.0), and steals (1.2) last season.

Rockets Solidify Young Core

On the same day, it was reported that the Rockets also prolonged the agreement of guard Jalen Green, solidifying their young talent even more. Having both players under contract, Houston aims to maintain its upward trajectory in the tough Western Conference. Alperen Şengün and Green are seen as vital components in the Rockets’ future strategies.

Rising Star in Houston

Taken as the 16th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Şengün has posted career averages of 14.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. Even though he had to sit out the end of the 2023-24 season because of a sprained ankle. His play has proven that he is essential to Houston’s upcoming success.
