Houston Rockets’ center Alperen Sengun received the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week accolade for his exceptional performances in Week 6 (Nov. 25 – Dec. 1). Sengun guided the Rockets to victories against the Timberwolves, 76ers, and Thunder, posting an average of 21.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks each game.

Houston is only half a game trailing the Thunder for first place in the closely fought Western Conference. The Rockets’ solid performance has positioned them as a true contender, but with just a 3.5-game lead over the 10th-seeded Spurs, each victory is crucial. Sengun has been central to this achievement, demonstrating why he deserves his five-year, $185 million contract extension.
Career-Best Numbers for Sengun
Sengun is posting career-best numbers in several categories this season, including 18.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks each game. His enhancement in defense has been notably remarkable. Moreover, featuring a 101 defensive rating and a +3.3 defensive box plus-minus, which are both career highs.
Competing with the Best
